FPI, FBS, CFP, BCS – OMG! For as long as I can remember, the college football pre-season rankings were as delectable as thick syrup on a stack of hot pancakes off the griddle… dripping with anticipation. Pre-Season Football Rankings can puff up a team or deflate it faster than a kid can prick a balloon with a needle or a mere sitting! Historically, pre-season rankings have fallen short of being accurate by year’s end, but in 2014 with the advent of the long-awaited CFP, three of the final four predicted playoff teams were still standing after the dust had settled. Goodness knows, there was a lot of dirt that was kicked in between…
For those of you that don’t follow sports or are novices to the lingo, the FPI is the Football Power Index (a.k.a. the powers that be determine the best and worst teams for the new season). This is designed to be a measurement of team strength to predict their performance going from the beginning to the end of the season.
It’s hard to believe, but it’s that time again – the pigskin is about to fly in a little over six weeks on September 3, 2015. Here’s your 2015-2016 college football pre-season ranking – if you’re puffed up about your team, congrats and if you’re not, don’t lose hope. It’s not over until it’s over and it’s not over until the scoreboard shows 0:00 on Monday, January 11, 2016 in Glendale, AZ at the national championship.
