It’s no secret I’ve never graced the beautiful and perfectly manicured greens along side the sandy bunkers at Augusta National Golf Club… ahhh, the MASTERS. This invitation-only tournament is to golf as the Super Bowl is to football. While there are several parallels, there are also differences – the biggest one that stands out to me is the fact that the winner is the one that emerges with the lowest score which is the opposite of sports I love like football, basketball and baseball. But hey, you get to win and wear that really cool green jacket; and a ton of money.
I won’t pretend to know a lot about golf and I don’t have much in common with the sport, other than the fact that the course has sand like where I live at the beach. 😉 Other than putt-putt golf I’ve attempted golf twice – once in 1991 and then again in 2014 and suffice it to say I faired (pun intended) much better last year than the first time.
This year’s story is 21 year old Jordan Spieth who is currently 14 under par after 36 holes – a record in MASTERS tourney history. That’s it. That’s all I know.
Oh, and 75 year old golf legend, Jack Nicklaus had a hole-in-one during the Par 3 rounds. So, as you can see below Nicklaus and I have something in common.
